Gallery of Calico-pied

The progressive pied trait seems to be proving itself out first and is becoming the common factor in all of our visual ‘white’ type morphs.

As an example, the first three photos are of a young male who is just now starting to turn white.  He is one of four offspring from my ‘Cover Girl’ of the Super Pied Calico Tokay pair.  He is a strange, mottled green while his other siblings all look normal.

After that, there are several photo examples of variations of this theme. They’ve been called everything from Calico, to Granite, to Melanistic, to Pied, to Leucistic.

It will take e few more years of selective breeding to prove out what is really what and settle down on the correct genetic descriptions.  Until then, enjoy.
